Feature Article - Living in the Mystery

All my life I have been motivated by curiosity. If I do not understand a word, I look up the meaning straight away on Dictionary.com. Google is my best friend, as is wikipedia. I love love love that we have the internet and that answers to my questions are at my finger tips.

Of course some answers are not so easy to find. Like “Why am I here?” “What is the meaning of life?” Specifically, what is the meaning of my life?” And..”What exactly, is the point, anyway?”

While I have never got sucked into the vortex of these questions and fallen, like Alice, down the rabbit hole, into a dark and twisted existential crisis, lost in the impossibility of the answers, I have held these questions as a kind of beacon, their light shining just ahead, pulling me forward to continue my own inner journey, and in the process finding answers that bring peace, if not certainty. Saying No to Anything Unless it is an Absolute Yes

....To say an absolute yes to something or someone is not an experience to be taken lightly. When I say an absolute yes, I need to be sure that every part of my body, mind, spirit, soul..is aligned. That there is not one corner, or cell, or mote of dust within me that says no. If there is even a shadow, the faintest whisper, tiniest inkling of a no, then the answer for now, is a no.

So why do we say yes when we mean no? (Or no when we mean yes?)

Staying in the Question, plus...living life from a Win Win Win

Imagine you are walking down a path towards a goal, very focused, clear on your intent, and all of a sudden, completely unexpectedly, you hit a major speed bump, or even a mountain. This mountain is right in your path. It is not supposed to be there.

Standing in front of this huge obstacle, and after you have expressed your feelings about this mountain, what do you do?

Do you look at the mountain in front of you and say it is all too hard. Can’t do it, no way to get around or through the mountain? Impossible.

Do you get angry at the mountain for thwarting your goals, then spend the next 5 minutes, or ten years, or lifetime, blaming the mountain for you not getting the things you want in life? Blame. More..

Creating a Win Win Win

Holding the space for a win win win is a way of being in life. To sincerely come from the place of triple win we must have transcended our need to win over someone or something. From the outset, this principle of the triple win demands that we stay in the conversation until all three parties get the win. No one looses, no one compromises. We keep asking the questions until the third or forth or fifth, or sixth... way forward is revealed.

Win win win means that I win, you win and the 3rd party also wins. The third party may be the company, the environment, the community, the people, the family... If there are more than two people in the negotiation, a win win win means that all individuals win, as well as the third party.

Where in the World is Syzergy?

Sunday I go off to Adelaide to co-facilitate a small gathering of 20 people from around Australia on Indigenous Prosperity. A group of us know that supporting Aboriginal youth and adults into meaningful employment is a large systemic issue that requires a very different approach than is currently available. This is step one in finding answers. If you are interested in more information, let me know. We will be producing a report.

After this I spend a few days in Sydney, for the last trip of 2009.
