Welcome to The Healthcare Marketing Connection. I am really excited to be interviewing my good friend Debora McLauglin of Audacious Enterprises next Tuesday. Deborah is well known on the east coast and does workshops and seminars for entrepreneurs and women's groups. I feel fortunate to have her spend an hour of her time with us! Not only has she agreed to be interviewed, but she has a free goodie for everyone that comes. We only have 100 phone lines set aside for this, so if you'd like to attend email Rachel@KellyRobbinsLLC.com before the teleclass fills.
To your success!

5 Steps to a Quick Web Tune-up
by Kelly Robbins
Haven't looked at your web site in a while? While your web site may still be serving its purpose, it is a good idea to give it a once-over every so often. I find many business owners spend a lot of time on their web site when they first put it together, and then they never look at it again.
Take a few minutes with some fresh eyes and look at your site from a different, fresh perspective...
Here are 5 quick things to check for on your site:
- Do you tell people exactly where to go next on each and every page? If people read your home page, do they know what steps they should take or what page to look at next? Don't assume they will just click around. Be extremely specific and tell them to go look at some of your samples on your samples page or to go to your events page to see where you may be speaking next.
- Does every page have your contact information? And this does not include a "contact us" page on your navigation bar. I recommend to all my clients that they also include an email link and their phone number at the very bottom of every page too. We want to make it very easy for everyone to contact you. Some may look for the contact us page, others may not.
- Do you have testimonials scattered throughout each page of your web site? If not, what can you do to get some today? Are you working with a client that you could ask right now?
- Are your paragraphs short and easy to read? This may not have been something you thought about when you first did your site, so do a quick once- over. In general, your paragraphs should be two or three sentences and that's it. Do you break the page up with bullet points or bolding?
- Headings and subheadings. Do you have any? Important key words that prospective clients would use to find you should be in the headline of each page at the very top, and then in subheadings throughout the page. I find that many clients that write their own web sites don't know to do this part and don't realize the importance it plays in the search engines finding you. If the search engines aren’t finding you, chances are some of your prospects aren't either.
Bonus tip #6 - Have you added any new products or services since you last worked on your web site? Any new samples to show or testimonials to add?

This week Kelly recommends copywriting guru Bob Bly's blog at http://www.bly.com/blog/index.php. Chances are most of you copywriters out there know who Bob is. I was shocked to discover a few years ago no one else has ever heard of him. He's a great guy and an awesome direct marketer. He has a blog he posts to every week or so. I like his blog because he asks a thought provoking question in each post.
If you have any other great resources you'd like me to share with everyone, let me know and I'll check it out. kelly@KellyRobbinsLLC.com |
