Akeelah and the Bee
I watched Akeelah and the Bee movie with my kids this weekend - which was a great movie. There was a poem in the movie that really struck me and I got online and hunted it down. I thought it was so powerful and so profound that in lieu of the traditional feature article I want to share this with you. Take the time to read this out loud and really think about what it is saying.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, 'who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?'
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
This quote is from author Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love.
WOW.
This is saying a lot to me, but what I am really getting right now is how positive this is and how we are not afraid of what we can not do, but how much we can do.
Do you think this is true? I am also posting this on my blog today and would love to hear your thoughts http://healthcaremarketer.blogs.com/. How big can you get? Your playing small does not serve the world.
