Kelly's Challenge: I challenge you to put one keep in touch program in place. Do something simple to get started.

Did You Know? According to a new report from a research company, eMarketer, online ad spending is expected to reach $21.7 billion this year. This will be the first time it will exceed radio ad spending, which will total an estimated $20.4 billion.

A Message From Kelly

Welcome to The Healthcare Marketing Connection! Does your physicians practice have a keep in touch program? Read this week's feature article to find out what a keep in touch program is and get some tips to creating these programs for your practice.

Last week I got some flak about a new copywriting class I'm offering to help mentor new copywriters AND meet the needs of a busy client or two. This class is about mentoring and helping copywriters improve their skills. Yes, it could lead to paying assignments down the road and referrals to other businesses. I am not mentoring for free. Take a look at the web page for yourself and let me know what YOU think www.thecopywritinginstitute.com/learntheropes.html.

By the way…I am still looking for copywriters to train -- apprentices -- to learn to write several different types of copy, including specific copy for the alternative healthcare market. The top copywriters from the class will have the opportunity to be promoted to a very large group of alternative healthcare practitioners and do copywriting work on your own. You can learn more about this great opportunity at www.thecopywritinginstitute.com/learntheropes.html. We are getting started very soon, so if you're interested now is the time to jump on board!

To your success!

Healthcare Marketers benefit from "keep in touch" program

Does your physicians practice have a keep in touch program?

A keep in touch program or campaign is a simple "system" you create to keep in touch with whomever you want to keep in touch with. :) For your physicians, this could be patients that have stopped making appointments, new prospects or leads you've generated, other businesses that send you referrals or new clients that you want to feel welcomed.

The people you can reach with a keep in touch program can be as varied as the ideas you come up with. As a healthcare marketer you may decide you need several different keep in touch programs for different patients.

The key to having a successful keep in touch program is creating a system that lets you keep in touch with people on a consistent basis, without having to spend tons of time and energy putting the program together each and every time.

Here are a few ideas to help you create your own keep in touch system…

  • Create an electronic newsletter (like this one). Inexpensive and easy to create, electronic newsletters are a great way to keep your name in front of patients, peers and prospects.

  • Send inexpensive post cards. The easiest way to do this is to create an automated schedule so the post cards are sent on a consistent basis. You can teach someone in your office to input the names and choose the postcards and the messages well in advance.

  • Create a special event and invite interested parties. This may be a softball game once or a quarterly lunch date. Anything to keep your name in front of your contacts.

  • Refer people to others. Being the referral king yourself is a great way to keep your name on top of the mind. Think about this, when was the last time someone referred a patient to you - do you remember that person fondly? Do you feel like you owe them one? Of course you do, it's human nature. Be the referral king yourself.

  • Actively search for reasons to keep in touch, such as birthdays, anniversaries, "chiropractic week".
