A Message From Kelly

Welcome to The Healthcare Marketing Connection! Spring is here and with it blooming flowers and buds on trees - and I feel the urge to purge! Every spring we do a deep clean to our house and get rid of tons of things we've accumulated over the last year. I also do a "spring cleanse" and drink tons of water to clean my liver and purge the toxins I've accumulated all winter. Cleansing is a natural way to make room for new things in our life and prepare ourselves for the change in season. Cleansing allows us to make room for new things to grow. Just like how we clean out our bodies and our homes, we should also do a "spring cleanse" for our businesses - particularly our marketing. Get rid of what's old, stale and not working (toxic), and make room for change and rejuvenation.

To help you with your spring cleansing efforts, this week's feature article offers some simple steps you can take to ensure your practice is ready for spring. We're also offering a HUGE Spring Cleansing Sale. 50% off all coaching packages and 25% off all marketing and copywriting products you purchase. See our Special Offer section at the end of the HMC to see specifically which products this applies towards.

The kids are on spring break next week. Shelby is off to Mexico to build a house for a family - she's going with a friend of hers from school and their church. She's riding a bus there and sleeping in a tent the entire time, no bathrooms or showers. She's in for some hard work and quite an adventure! I am sure it will be a life changing experience for her and am glad she is going. Troy and I are a little nervous, I've heard the area she's going to is not very safe. Meanwhile, the rest of us are hitting the slopes at my Dad's house in Steamboat. There's tons of great snow in Colorado still and we're looking forward to going away and getting some exercise.

To your success!

Kelly

It's time for a healthcare marketing cleanse!

It's Springtime. A time for clearing out clutter, cleansing our bodies, and making way for the fruits of our winter labors to blossom.

In the same way that many of us participate in the ritual of a spring cleanse and clear our body of toxins and "winter build-up", we should also take the time to clear the clutter from our practice and free up our energy for growth. Patients come to you for healing - it's imperative your office has a clean and energetic feel to it.

Take an hour or two and follow some of these tips to create space with a "Spring Practice Cleanse".

  • Sit in the reception area as if you were a patient and look around - are the magazines up to date? Are there too many lying around? Are the pictures on the walls dusty? How does the place look and feel?
  • Take a look at the reception area and treatment rooms. Have the pillows or chairs developed holes? Are the children's toys in working order? Get rid of old things and bring in some fresh new items.
  • Freshen the atmosphere up a bit - add some fresh flowers to the reception area, a fresh coat of paint if necessary, dust the ceilings and other unusual areas (especially those of us that have patients that lay down, check this it's easy to miss).
  • Closets, cabinets and other areas for storage space have the opportunity to collect clutter all year. Old supplements and unused office supplies have a way of piling up and collecting dust. Clean it out!

Other less tangible but never the less important things to do are to refresh your marketing efforts and systems. What's working and what's not?

  • If you have specific marketing systems that you've always done, such as always doing a St. Patrick's Day promotion or networking with a specific group, take the time now to analyze if that is productive for you. Is it time to change things up a bit?
  • Do the same exercise with any services you have packaged or bundled. Can you change them around a little bit, add some coaching, or partner with another business to freshen things up?
  • Do you offer a free report or educational handout to patients? Could that use some updating? How about your newsletter or brochures?
  • When was the last time you updated your website? Take a glance at it. Are all your new services, coaching and packages listed?
