Dear Friends -
I received many wonderful notes and e-mails this month from folks who have read "Real Prosperity." Thank you! I really appreciate it. I have to confess to a certain anxiety as an author when I have a new book out in the stores. It's a part of me, my story, my ideas, and I wonder, "Will anyone buy it?" "Will anyone read it?" "Will they like it?" My books have been published in over ten languages. It's an amazing feeling to know that I have readers all over the world. So again, thanks to all of you who took the time to write (and read!)

As many of you know, my primary work over the past twenty years has been providing intuitive consultations for individuals. I love that side of what I do (and yes, I'm still accepting new clients!) Recently, there's also been a surge of interest in my work with businesses.

4. LIVING A PROSPEROUS LIFE - Part 2 of 3
"Prosperity Is Your Divine Birthright"

Stop for a moment and look around you. Look at the abundance that is there before you. I don't necessarily mean all your material possessions. I'm asking you to look at the trees, clouds, birds, stars, grass, (snow, earth or sand) and flowers. Wherever you are you will see an abundance of something. We live in an abundant Universe. Money, and the resources we need to accomplish our life mission, are here in abundance as well.
Now I'd like you to do something else. Take a deep breath. Feel the air come into your lungs. Feel how good it makes you feel and then exhale slowly. It has probably never occurred to you that you should worry about whether there would be enough air for you to breathe. You just accept that it's there.
You didn't get up one morning and run outside and begin inhaling like crazy trying to suck up all the air you could get for fear that it would soon be gone. You don't fear that just because you had air last month the supply will run out and you may not have any next month. Air exists all around you. It flows through your body regardless of whether you feel worthy, have low self-esteem or had a rotten childhood. I want you to know that Divine prosperity is like that too. You have an abundance of what you need all around you.
You may be thinking, "Yeah right! You haven't looked at my credit card bills lately. All I see is an abundance of debt!" I know how that feels. I've been there. And when I was, I found this "prosperity consciousness" talk very irritating. I'm asking you to bear with me as you read this. Try out some of the ideas, theories and principles with an open mind and see where it takes you. Someone once said, "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten." So, if what you've been doing isn't working, what have you got to lose?
I used to think that if I said my prosperity affirmations fifty times a day and visualized my goals for ten minutes at a time then a pot of gold would appear before me. The other fantasy was that Ed McMahon from Publisher's Clearinghouse would show up at my door announcing I was the latest winner. I have to report to you that none of those things have happened! But I did come up with a winning lottery number. (More on that in another newsletter!)
How then, do I explain my belief that abundance is all around you? Consider where your prosperity comes from. On the surface you might agree that it comes from your employer or it comes from your clients if you're self employed. But the thing that enabled you to receive this money was from ideas, thoughts, intuitions and feelings about what you wanted to do with your life and how you wanted to make a living. Those ideas and the actions you took on their behalf are your true currency.
You acted on an interest you had and pursued that interest by going to school or learning about it in some other way. You may have had a brilliant idea or an intuitive message that enabled you to create something new or to pursue an entrepreneurial venture. Perhaps you had a hunch that allowed you to simply be at the right place at the right time to get that job you wanted.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "Man was born to be rich or inevitably to grow rich through the use of his faculties." You may pray for money to pay off your debts or to buy the home of your dreams. However, God doesn't usually swoop in with deposits for your bank account. Instead you are given divine ideas, circumstances, nudges to move in the right direction that allow you to create your dreams.
When you have your mind tuned to the prosperity channel, the intelligence and wisdom of the Universe will begin to broadcast the information you need in order to attract what you are focused upon. What's your choice? Would you rather have your receiver tuned to fear, anxiety and worry and receive that broadcast? Or would you prefer to profit from the information that points you to prosperity when you put your conscious focus on abundance, gratitude, and hope?
THE BEGINNINGS OF A LIFE YOU LOVE - Prosperity Exercise
Remember when you were a kid and saw a falling star? Someone was sure to have said, "Make a wish!" That's what I want you to do in this exercise. What would your ideal life look like? Get out a big piece of paper or notebook and begin to write and/or draw what you want. NOTE: Do not concern yourself at this point about how you will achieve these goals. Your assignment at this moment is to stretch your unused muscles of imagination and begin to dream. The purpose is to give a clear message to the Universe about what you want. In future newsletters we'll work on all the ways you might receive the replies the Universe sends!
THINGS TO WRITE - DREAM - DRAW to get you started:
What does your home look like? Who are your friends? What do you do for fun? How much money would you like to have? Describe how you want to look and feel. What kind of primary relationship would you like (if any)? What kind of work are you doing? Describe your ideal relationship with your family. What do your surroundings look like? Do you want to travel? If so, where? How do you feel about your spiritual life?

I'm frequently asked about meditation for busy people. I love the brief and simple exercise described below. It only takes a few moments and you'll feel centered, happy and at peace. What more could one want?
A Simple Meditation
from ZenWise Selling, by Lee Godden
This brief time out is a gift to yourself; a simple, one-minute meditation that can be done privately, in your chair, at work.
Sit up straight and breathe slowly and deeply, allowing your belly to swell with each inhalation. Smile as you breathe. Think or softly say the words following to yourself in time with your slow, deep breaths.
1) Breathing in, I calm body and mind.
2) Breathing out, I smile.
3) Breathing in, I notice this moment.
4) Breathing out, I enjoy this moment.
Repeat the four steps for a minute or so. Acknowledge any "pop-up thoughts," then gracefully let them go.
