Come Show Your Support for D.C. Voting Rights! Act Comes to Senate Floor Today

A Message from DC Vote:

Please join supporters of DC voting rights today at the Capitol Senate gallery to witness a historic vote on the DC House Voting Rights Act (S. 1257).

Debate starts at 2:15 PM.

Voting begins at 3:30 PM.

This is the most important moment for the DC voting rights movement in a generation! Come show your support!

Persons should be aware that in addition to the traditional prohibited items, the US Senate does not allow bottled water, food or any kind of spray bottle (e.g., perfume, etc.).

The current system does not always allow non-constituents to send e-mails to senators. As you know, DC residents are not represented by U.S. Senators.

Washingtonians, please ask your friends and family out in the states to contact their senators on your behalf. To reach a senator's office by phone, call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202.224.3121.

ABOUT DC VOTE:

DC Vote is a 501 (c) (3) educational and advocacy organization dedicated to securing full voting representation in Congress for the residents of the District of Columbia.
Working to End Taxation Without Representation in America's Capital
Currently, more than half a million Americans living in our nation's capital have no congressional voting rights. They have no vote for jobs, no vote for health care, no vote for education or any issue debated and voted on by the U.S. Congress.

Founded in 1998, DC Vote works to secure full voting rights in Congress for the residents of the District of Columbia by:

Informing Congress and the American public about this injustice

Formulating solutions with coalition partners and elected officials

Promoting change based on the principle that a government is democratic only when people have the ability, through freely elected leaders, to shape the laws under which they must live
