HAPPY NEW YEAR! COUNCILMEMBER BROWN LAUNCHES NEW ONLINE VIRTUAL OFFICE!

Dear Neighbor,

To help start off the New Year on the right foot, I launched a new online Virtual Office. My goals are to continue improving our constituent services by keeping you informed and making government more open and transparent. Feel free to stop by the Virtual Office by visiting the following link:

http://www.kwamebrownatlarge.com/

You may need to copy and paste the link into the address bar of your web browser and please remember to add the website to your favorites. I am always looking forward to hearing more of your feedback. On the homepage you will notice a link called “Tell it to Kwame.” Click on the link to provide me with your insights into how we can further improve the Virtual Office, our government, and the District.

In the “Constituent Services” page you will find important links to advisory neighborhood commissions, civic and citizens associations, Councilmember websites and the Mayor’s website. Also, you will find a listing of upcoming events and other helpful links. To check out the “Constituent Services” page simply click on the homepage link or use the following link:

http://www.kwamebrownatlarge.com/Site/Constituent_Services.html

Brown TV is a new addition to the website. The District of Columbia Office of Cable Television maintains all Council hearings and committee meetings on demand. As Chair of the Committee on Economic Development, I have created direct links to all 35 of the committee’s 2007 public hearings and meetings, which you can watch using Windows Media Player. Visit the Brown TV page by clicking on the homepage link or use the following link:

http://www.kwamebrownatlarge.com/Site/Constituent_Services.html

Your participation in government is critical. Be sure to attend community events, volunteer for local organizations, and participate in public hearings. Let your voice be heard on education by participating in community dialogues on school restructuring. A listing of dialogue meetings can be found in the left hand column of this Bulletin under Upcoming Events. There will be three meetings taking place January 9th - 11th. The meetings cover all Wards.

The Committee on Economic Development will be holding its first hearing of the year on January 11th. The Public Oversight Roundtable on the “Parking and Traffic Plan for the Nationals’ Stadium” will take place at the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Room 500, at 10:00 AM. More information about this and other events can be found by visiting the "Upcoming Events" page of the Virtual Office website at:

http://www.kwamebrownatlarge.com/Site/Upcoming_Events.html

I am looking forward to working with you to continue to improve education, revitalize our neighborhoods, create jobs and provide more affordable housing for residents. Help me improve constituent services and make government more open and transparent by providing your feedback and ideas. Together we can make the District a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Sincerely,
Kwame R. Brown
Councilmember At-Large
