Today's Article: Key Strategies to Overcoming Self-Doubt
A Personal Note From Annette Today, Im sitting on a plane heading up to Albany, New York. On Wednesday, Ill be presenting my seminar entitled, Stop Battling Food, Start Embracing Life. In this amazing opportunity, Ill be showing people how to overcome the difficult personal challenge of emotional eating, binge eating, overeating, or food addictions in a brand new way by exploring the nature of reality, the effect of belief systems, and how each person can make conscious choices to bring about a new, more desirable reality. Now for an update
If you read last weeks newsletter you might remember that I set myself a goal to tell at least four people who I am. My aim was to say, I am a New Consciousness teacher who is here on Earth right now to help open up and expand the potentials for others who are willing to evolve. Why was I doing this? Because it is time for me to stop hiding and to stop pretending. It was not important that the four people needed to know. It was important that I hear the truth come from my own mouth. It was time to take another step to overcome doubt. Doubt eats away at our clarity and vitality. It keeps us from experiencing who we truly are. It keeps us from expressing our truth. It keeps us hidden away not only from ourselves, but others as well. We all need to be comfortable and confident in our role here on Earth. If you are at all interested in effecting change in your life and life of this planet, its time to stop hiding who you are. And thats what todays article is all about overcoming self-doubt. So how did I do? Success! So far, I have told five people. And while I might have feared the worst, such as someone laughing in my face, it drew a much different and wonderfully surprising response. I challenge you to take your next step in overcoming your doubt about who you are and why you are on Earth. Write to me, and let me know of your experiences! Until next week, wishing you joy and success! Annette P. S. Remember to order the book everyone is talking about! Key Strategies to Overcoming Self-Doubt By Dr. Annette Colby, RD Annette@AnnetteColby.com or www.AnnetteColby.com Copyright 2008, Dr. Annette Colby, all rights reserved. Its encouraging to see so many beautiful books and messages flowing throughout the world about people becoming more aware, having the ability to make changes in their own lives, and being connected to light and love. People are overcoming personal challenges to bring peace and meaning into their own lives, and in the process making the world a better place to live. On the other hand, there are many people who live with doubt and fears all the time. Some fears are so great they actually paralyze them and their life. They feel trapped and stuck. Their inner self is suffocated. The fear and self-doubt jams up the energy in their body and clouds over their vitality, leaving their life dull. They begin to lose their passion for life and may end up feeling totally lost. If you recognize that fear or self-doubt is stopping you from living your most enjoyable life, use these tips to build your internal confidence and take conscious control over your behavior. 1. Awareness Recognize the fear and doubt within you. The first step to overcoming doubt is to be willing to face the situation. By being honest and admitting that you have doubts can you seek alternatives. 2. Acceptance Understand that it is all right to have doubt. What matters most is that you love yourself enough to overcome your doubt by taking calculated risks. 3. Explore Your Fears Take out a piece of paper and write down a list of your fears. Explore your doubt, examine your fear, and look at the areas in your life where they get the upper hand. 4. Examine Your Excuses Write down your reasons for not pursuing a personal challenge or moving forward on something important to you 5. Say Good Bye Write a goodbye letter to your doubt, then bury it, burn it, or release it in some other creative way. 6. Mirror Mirror On the Wall When your doubt pops up, go to the mirror and talk to yourself. Positive talk isnt the entire answer, but without we havent got a chance of success. People are more successful when they talk to themselves in a reassuring, compassionate, and loving way. 7. Build Self-Esteem Keep reminding yourself that you are valuable, that you have worth, and that your life matters. 8. Take Positive Action Take positive action in the direction of your dreams. You can put doubt in its place when you take action on the activities and goals that are most important to you. 9. What's the Best that Could Happen Imagine the best possible outcome. Practice allowing yourself to envision yourself being the person you want to be. 10. Take Care of Yourself Take some action every day that allows you to feel better about yourself. Overcoming self-doubt is possible. But it is up to you to get things started. Believe in your own possibilities. And when fears and self-doubt show up in your life, break through them by using the tools and skills above. They work.
