Thanksgiving is one of my
favorite holidays. Not only does it involve sharing food and conversation
with people I love, but its primary focus is that of appreciation and
gratitude. What could be better than that?
Appreciation and gratitude
have the power to transform any negative thought or emotion into one of
peace and calm. The next time you find yourself feeling something other than
joy, stop and challenge yourself to think of 5 things you are grateful
for. With a little perseverance you will find that by the 5th
item of appreciation, youll be feeling pretty darn good. After more
practice you might even find yourself living in a completely new frame of
mind. The hardest part of the process is simply remembering to do it.
At this very moment what are
you most grateful for? As you focus your thoughts on gratitude, can you
feel a sense of joy and peace settling in? Notice how good that feels and
give thanks. Most importantly, know that theres a lot more joy to come.

This book is filled with wonderful ideas for recapturing the
true spirit of Christmas. It stresses the importance of deciding what is
important to you, and how to modify unrealistic goals to keep from running

(often anonymously) those who really need it ... etc. The ideas are
