Have
you ever struggled with trying to understand why the Universe keeps giving
you lemons when you think you are asking for peaches?
This
past week, my daughter and I were rear-ended while waiting in the drop-off
lane in front of her school. As I heard the unexpected crashing noise and
felt our car being catapulted forward, it was impossible for me not to
experience a sense of déjˆ vu to the auto accident I was in ten years ago.
Yesterday, I found out that not only was the driver of the vehicle
uninsured, had no license, and was not the owner the vehicle, but that she
has the same last name as the drunk driver that hit me ten years ago! How
amazing is that?
And,
just like ten years ago, I know I have a choice to either focus on the
negative or focus on the positive. I have chosen to focus on the positive,
by finding things to appreciate (like the fact that Ania and I are not
seriously hurt and that I have wonderful healers on my support team who
are already helping us to heal).
From
the moment I was being put in the ambulance, I started affirming that
there will be a huge gift in this experience. Ive learned by now that to
ask to see this gift so soon is not realistic, but I can say that I have
every intention of keeping my heart open to the possibility.
As I
focus on my belief that good will come from this, I connect with that part
of me that knows that I am right. And as I do my best to bask in
appreciation, I can feel at peace. I know that at every turn, Spirit is
here to guide me and that feels really good. I dont believe in the
concept of being tested, but I do believe that in challenging
circumstances, we can discover our strength and powerful personal
attributes that perhaps were once hidden from us and can now be revealed.
I trust that regardless of appearances, everything is unfolding perfectly,
including the plethora of emotions that Ive been feeling. I know that if
I give a voice to rage, that underneath I will find peace; and, that by
giving myself permission to feel fully without judgment, I will eventually
find acceptance and understanding.
All
of us have experienced challenges in our lives, whether physically,
emotionally or spiritually. What we do with those challenges is up to us.
Think about what the challenges in your life have taught you. Can you see
that the attributes that you are most proud of might have come from your
greatest lifes challenges? How would it feel to say a prayer of thanks
for those opportunities and the gifts they held? Without them, you would
not have become the amazing being that you are today.
Wishing you a week of insight and appreciation,
