Have
you forgotten how to have fun? Have you misplaced your sense of humor as
you seriously plod forward in your day to day activities?
Twice in the past week, I have been reminded of the importance of
experiencing pleasure and fun and am beginning to realize that fun is as
much about one's attitude as it is about one's activities.
Years ago, when I created The Ten Principles of Attraction, I deemed
principle Number 7 to "Be Childlike and Playful." I used to joke that I
spent the first 30 years of my life being serious and I was going to make
up for it by devoting the rest of my life to pleasure and playfulness.
I
wish I could say that I am doing a stellar job of being light and
childlike, but that would not be the truth. The truth is I have been
focusing so much on problem solving and other "serious stuff" that I've
all but disowned my playful, joyous self. Well, that's about to change.
Right here, right now I am declaring my intention to let out my inner
child (don't you just love that term?) and let her play! I am going to
watch movies and read books that make me laugh. I'm going to dance wildly
with my daughter and I'm going to get out my crayons and color outside the
lines.
I
enjoy helping people with their problems, but frankly what the world needs
more of is people sharing joy and laughter and happiness and in turn
leading the way for others to do the same. Perhaps perfection is a balance
of the two (and the wisdom to intuit whether problem solving or giggling
is the best medicine in that moment).
As
we approach Thanksgiving, what better way to make room in your life for
thankfulness than by putting a bounce in your step and a little lightness
in your heart?
Have
you been a little too serious lately for your own good? What could you do
this week to lighten up a bit? What might happen if you did?
"Carole's topic on
wearing masks was truly interesting. I recently talked at a spiritual
retreat that was called, "Knowing God through Knowing Yourself," and a big
part of the talk had to do with wearing masks. I shared my own spiritual
journey and all the masks I've used throughout my life and how I've been
able to remove them (somewhat) as I become closer to God. Thank you, Carole
for your wisdom and insight."
