Welcome
to my monthly e-newsletter "The Quest." My name
is Siobhan (Sha-vaun) Murphy and my company provides coaching,
training and speaking services to entrepreneurs, professionals
and executives.
Soleria Green will be the guest speaker for the Quest Connection today. See Announcements below for more information.
In a few hundred years, when the history of our time is written from a long-term perspective, it is likely that the most important event those historians will see is not technology, not the Internet, not e-commerce. It is an unprecedented change in the human condition. For the first time literally substantial and rapidly growing numbers of people have choices. For the first time, they will have to manage themselves. And society is totally unprepared for it. ~ Peter Drucker
Choices
This past month, I had the privilege of introducing the Great Question! Action Learning Game to groups of CEOs on Long Island. We had amazing conversations about the workplace of today and the role of coaching skills in bringing about the Knowledge worker age.
One of the many reasons that Coaching has emerged as a profession, and as a skill set for Leaders and Experts, is because of the tremendous amount of choice that we each face every day. The roles we are to play in life are not set as they once were. People have choices about who they marry, if they marry, and if they stay married. In the workplace, people rarely work in the same company from college to retirement. Our choices in terms of leisure activities have exploded as well. And this says nothing of the vast array of goods and services we can buy from anywhere, anytime via the Internet or the closest big box retailer.
In the workplace, coaching can serve to develop people to be stronger contributors. In fact, a Gallup survey of over 2500 people indicated that two of the things that matter most to employees are the answers to these questions:
- Does my supervisor or someone at work seem to care about me as a person?
- Is there someone at work who encourages my development?
What does that have to do with choice?
Now, more than ever, your employees have a choice whether they work with you or with someone else. Coaching can be the powerful edge to attract and retain todays top talent.
Coaching Questions:
In what ways do you care about your employees? Do they know that?
Who encourages your development?

About Soleira Green:
I'm a passionate visionary and evolutionist for a new future for us all. In addition to being a visionary, I'm also very skilled in the alchemy of conscious creation and the real life implementation of these visions. Currently I'm powerfully working with three visions and every moment of my life is spent in the delightful expression of them into our world:
(1) the creation of humanity as wondrously evolving beings of magnificence, generosity, trueness, wisdom and courage;
(2) the quantum evolution of our race, our world and Life; and
(3) a business world which thrives on passion and vision, finding its measure of true success through contribution AND profit.
