The Resolutionary

Hello Friends:

Challenging times!

Great opportunity for growth! True, but it does not take away the pain of watching the daily news.

When will we learn? Oh when will we learn?

When everyone finally knows that the right / wrong / justification will be meaningless when we rain nuclear power

down on each other and destroy the miracle we inhabit and that real strength lies in saying no to another act of aggression. It only takes one to do that, to say enough, I will not perpetuate inhuman acts of violence even though every fiber of my being wants to lash out in retalliation. Real strength, real power, lies in having the courage to deny that impulsive rage and make a choice for our species longevity. That is the only growth step, and that, I believe, is what all of the masters...Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, would have us do.

I commend two books to you by "The Arbinger Institute." These books will change your life. The first, "Leadership and Self-Deception" was written in 2000 and the just released companion is called "The Anatomy of Peace." Now is a perfect time to digest them both.

CHOICE; PEACE PRAYER and REVERENCE, three poems I wrote just before the current war in Iraq began. I hope you find them of value.

                            CHOICE

How will you be recorded in the annals of your soul

What memory will warm your heart, leave you feeling whole

What is your legitimacy, what do you will for others

How do you serve and nourish, your sisters and brothers

Who are your real heroes, how have they served their ends

What was the pulse they captured, and who were their friends

Where is the light that draws you, and what is its source

What is your beings tenderness, leaves you without remorse

Who is the you that's in there, buried in your mist

Who will arise in crisis, will there be a twist

Time is running late now, time to chose is near

Do you voice your vote for life, or continue in your fear

Leaders jump onto the stage, with their end in mind

They have goals and visions, some want us to stay blind

The games of politicians, are often unseen

The real stuff's in the backroom, under radar's screen

You get to chose your fate now, is it life or death

Of your many voices, which will bring you true wealth

Wealth that's of the spirit, wealth that's peace of mind

Wealth that's noble courage, from strength that you did find

What makes you a human, what traits set you apart

What lifts you beyond instinct, is your compasionate heart

Let's not forget reflection, and self consciounness too

Abstract thought and reasoning, form a complex brew

Now's the time to act out, from your highest self

Time for fear to fade away, please get down off your shelf

Time is running late now, time to chose is near

Do you voice your vote for life, or continue in your fear

                     PEACE PRAYER

What do you pray for, what’s the longing inside

What begs your attention, and disturbs your pride

What is the thorn, that won’t go away

Needles serenity, and won’t let you play

What rankles your plans for a life that is gay

And leaves you entrenched, with no time to play

What calls forth amazement, at what you observe

And makes you crazy, ignites each nerve

What won’t let you rest, till you are thrown down

What’s taken your smile, and placed a long frown

What pollutes the air, and the water we drink

What clouds your good judgment, makes it so hard to think

What rages inside you, and breaks your sweet heart

What prowls your deep corridors, and demands your art

What shocks your wisdom, and draws out your tears

What’s growing louder, with each passing year

What beckons your voice, to rise up and protest

What pulls loudest screams, from your deepest breast

What galvanizes the burning within

What has the capacity to restore a grin

One simple answer wells up in my being

A world that is peaceful, with all of us seeing

We tend to the suffering, and heal all the ills

We breathe loving kindness, spurred on by our wills

We realize that violence, will only get more

We all know that love is what we came here for

We let go of all thoughts of winning or blame

We leave behind all war, and with it our shame

We honor the peace and compassion we are

We let go of all else, it won’t take us far

We sing with clear voices, the angels we are

We let go of all else, it does not take us far

                       REVERENCE

What makes you quiet, reflective inside

What grabs your emotions, and won't let you hide

What lingers within you, about events past

What impacts your presence, you cannot move fast

All joy that is burning, is put on hold

You're startled, awakened, no time to be bold

The lasting serenity, you came to know

Has stalled in its place, you have nowhere to go

Please let the lessons, that reverence brings

Speak to you deeply, their thoughts have wings

Let your insides awaken, to a new voice

Let your spirit be taken, you have no choice

Let the depth of emotion, purify and cleanse

Let your deep wisdom surface, to serve those ends

Take heart in realizing, your sense of profound

Let your depth of knowing, keep you near the ground

Honor events that sanctify space

Allow deep presence, feel your sense of grace

Enable the being that manifests you

Honor your softness, let it come through
