Hello Friends,
During the past few months I have been wondering weather to continue casting my small voice among all the noise on the airways. The amout of material flying around has been demotivating because of a sense that no one is really "listening" so why bother. I look back on the history of this newsletter and realize that I have been at it for about ten years. The time has flown by and the vehicle has been a great outlet for what I needed to say. I will continue for the time being, though the form may soon shift to a blog. If you have thoughts or suggestions please send them along to resolutionworks@msn.com
MUSINGS
1. As the primary season winds down I am mindful that what we have been calling debats are not. The seem more like shouting contests, sound bite preaching and "gottcha's" without the extended and deeper exploration of real debate needed to educate, shed light and thoughtfully explore solutions to the real and significant challenges we face as a nation. Unfortunately I do not see the nature of the exchanges shifting as we move into the campaign.
For me those challenges and issues include:
War as a vehicle for Resolving Problems
Erosion of the US Economy and Currency Valuation
Climate Change and the Environment
Health Care
More $$$$ for Jails than Education
Race and Racisim
Rich / Poor / Taxation
Infrastructure
In response to this array of challeneges I have one question: What are you working on and how will you contribute to the dialogue and to the solutions?
2. Boston Legal: One of my favorite and the only "not to be missed" TV shows is Boston Legal. Bizzare, Wacky, Charicature, Unpredictable, Hilarious and Over the Top are some words I would use to describe the show. But the reason I am making mention is that more and more each episode explores the difficult philosophical, moral, ethical and constitutional issues we are facing today and does it best to explicate both sides in a way that makes you think.
3. Virtual Eergy Forum: Hosted and sponsored by Newt Gingrich "The Virtual Energy Forum," a first of its kind, event connecting thousands of corporate executives with sustainability experts in energy efficiency and conservation, as well as providers of alternative energy products and services -- through a online onlylive, interactive environment. Access the event from your computer June 10th and 11th - online - from 10:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Eastern US.
