Seeing With New Eyes

"The world situation that life is presenting us with in the 21st century is a natural outcome of the state of consciousness that has created it.

"People having an internal system for understanding life that is based on limited thought processes and giving a view of themselves as separate and insecure individuals, naturally creates a world full of conflict and fear.

"But consider that this may also be part of a perfect unfolding!

"This may be how life works, that each stage of consciousness along the way in our development brings with it its own crisis.

"Each crisis forces individuals to question their current reality system, and to try to find a new stability by stretching into new versions of themselves with fuller capabilities and by outgrowing any old habits that no longer support them.

"Life creates situations that cannot be solved at their own level because the ways of seeing and knowing that have brought us to this point aren't working anymore. Our old paradigms and models are failing us and we are forced to let go of our old ways of constructing reality and look again to see what we have missed."

The above is an excerpt out of my upcoming book, a book without a name as yet. It seems clearly to be about how the world situation is both a support for and a motivator into the next steps in our development as a species. I will include more excerpts over the next few months as I am actively writing it.

Having a Good Summer?

Its been well over a month since I sent the last newsletter and I apologize for that but its been a very full summer for me. A lot of things have fallen to the wayside to make room for me to be writing another book right now. I am also working full time at Stanford, so the book is happening mostly on the weekends and everything else has to happen in the weeknights.

I have had to suspend my telephone mentoring sessions because of this situation, although any of you who have already paid for sessions, please do make appointments to finish up those commitments with me.

But if I just send excerpts from the new writing in the newsletter, I should be able to keep up with that from now on. I am also learning to use Twitter at the moment, and it might be fun to do "tweets" more much more often than once a month, and see if people appreciate that. We'll see if I can do this without it taking too much time away from writing. If anyone would like to check out what I'm doing on Twitter, visit me there at http://twitter.com/wideawakeliving. It just takes a minute to join Twitter yourself, if you are not already on it, and then you can "follow" me and anyone else you are interested in. Eckhart Tolle is up there doing a nice thing with little tweats about living in the now and such. I'm sure he's not doing it himself, but anyway, you could check that out at http://twitter.com/Eckhart_Tolle.

If anyone is wondering, the photo immediately above is a rock sculpture at Stanford. Isn't it cool? The thistle above was taken on a recent visit to the Mendocino coast. What you can't quite see behind the thistle is the great expanse of the Pacific ocean.
