Who Knows?
Who knows what the new response will be for each of our lives? We don't know, and although this can sometimes feel like a difficulty, it really isn't. We can't know the whole of what is happening here. It is bigger than we are. We can sense that now. We can sense that we are not in charge, that we are carried on a wind that if we are lucky we can get a glimpse of, but never know in its entirety. Life is bigger than we are, but we all do have some part to play or we wouldn't be here. We can trust that life will reveal our possible contributions to us on a need-to-know basis. We can trust that we will feel the breeze when we are ready to feel it and are ready to be moved by it. The photo on the right is evidence that I am beginning to learn PhotoShop at the moment. I have no idea why learning Photoshop is the thing to do right now. It is completely beyond me as to its role in the greater scheme of things. Yet when there is a sudden burst of energy directed to learning something new like this, I do my best to just let it happen. It feels like riding a wave and seeing where it goes. Or being carried by a wind to who-knows-where. It is just a matter of learning to be sensitive to my own inner energy ebbs and flows. I do a lot of allowing rather than forcing myself to do the things that my mind thinks I should be doing. Miraculously I still keep the practical things of life together while living this way. And life feels like a constant adventure. I just never know what might happen next and what I might have energy for tomorrow or next year. Although sometimes my mind makes a big noise demanding to know what will happen next, at the same time I can see that its not a problem. Not knowing is actually an enormous blessing, throwing wide the range of possibilities for this life. Anything could happen. Anything. Even if we were to end up living a life that appeared to make NO impact on any of the difficult issues of our times. That same seemingly insignificant life might have some effect on things that we never know about. Each life is a part of the most amazing tapestry of interactions, and we can't know it all. We can however orient our little human lives and all the things that everyday life consists of by allowing the greater life in us to move us in whatever way it will. Yes, it sounds a lot like "thy will be done", and it is. In today's world, it seems to come down to trusting the wind that's blowing us, being willing to move with it, and seeing where it takes us.
