~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~ Hello! Hope you've been enjoying your summer! I've been on an unscheduled, unanticipated writing sabbatical for a month or so. Sometimes it's known as "writer's block". I found myself unable to sit down and write. It's not that I didn't have any ideas or experiences that I wanted to share with you. I just couldn't seem to get the creativity flowing enough to get a whole topic on paper.

It's like having the individual ingredients for a cake - the flour, the sugar, the eggs, the chocolate, the spices, etc. Even though you have all the ingredients, you don't have a cake. You can even mix all the ingredients together and put them in a cake pan and even put the pan in the oven. But you still don't have a cake. You can even turn on the oven :D, but until everything comes together in just the right form, you still don't have a cake.

Have you ever had this experience? You are patiently (or inpatiently) waiting for the cake to be done (a real cake or metaphorical cake). You can smell the cake in the air, which adds to your anticipation and excitement. You even peek in the oven window to see how the cake's cooking. Maybe you even open the door to check on the cake. You also know that no matter how often you check, the cake will be done when it's done. And not a moment before. (share your experience - email spiritcoach@womensu.com)

It would seem that everything has it's time, it's cycle. Sometimes we can move it along a little faster, other times we just have to be patient and allow it to unfold (or bake). And when the project, idea, or CAKE is finally done and ready, it is soooo sweet and delicious! Well worth the wait.

Is there some area of your life where you are 'baking a cake' and waiting for the cake to be done? Are you waiting patiently with anticipation and excitement or are you waiting impatiently and constantly opening the oven to check on the cake? Are you willing to let go, surrender the need to have it done now, and enjoy the process?

Actually, there is no right or wrong answer to the above questions. :D Whatever you are feeling - whether patience or impatience - they're both OK. Whatever you're feeling, embrace it instead of judging it. If you're feeling impatient, embrace it. Give your Self permission to fully own your impatience. You might even give your Self 5 minutes to have a temper tantrum, walking around your house, stomping your feet and grumbling. Really own it.

Or, if you're really excited, embrace that too. Give your Self permission to own your excitement. You might jump up and down, and shout like a child 'Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy'. Embrace the experience.

Until next time, may you Eat Cake!!

In Spirit,

Lauren
